Is Biltong Beef Jerky?

Is biltong the same as beef jerky is one of the most common questions we get asked.

Why should I eat Biltong?

As a South African who was teethed on biltong and has had a craving for it ever since, this is a stupid question. The answer is obvious. Because it is there! Wet or dry, lean or fatty, there are not many tastier strips of meat on the planet.

Moreish is one word to describe it, addictive is another. People get a glint in their eye when they get their hands on our products. It gets swapped for chocolate biscuits by kids in school playgrounds, hoarded in cupboards as a spectacular treat to spring on the family, sits like a lifesaver in backpacks as they are hauled up the Himalayas by mountaineers, gets shared around the campfire after a days tramping in the beauty of the New Zealand Wilderness and shivers in the icy splendour of the Antarctic where it has found a home in the food and rescue packs at Scott Base.

Mums use it as a healthy snack in kids lunchboxes – it never comes back! It graces platters at summer barbeques and is used as a protein boost by fans of fitness.

Vegetarians have been known to sneak it on the sly.
